Sandy Schatz has studied Sumi-e and Asian Brush Painting for thirty years. His primary teacher and mentor for twenty years was the late master Professor I-Hsiung Ju, Professor Emeritus of Art at Washington and Lee University.

Each of Sandy’s paintings and cards is hand painted on “rice paper”, with subjects reflecting his original interpretation of nature and photos taken by himself and others. Some of his paintings are based on the work of Chinese masters.

His paintings are on display in offices and hospitals in Rhode Island and in private collections throughout the United States and abroad. One of his paintings was featured on the cover of “Medicine and Health Rhode Island” (February 2003).  He has given workshops in New York, Rhode Island and Florida. His cards and paintings are exhibited and available for purchase at Studio Hop in Providence, R.I. Additional works can be viewed online at Treasurewerks.com and on Facebook.
